The Puget Sound Chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society (PSONS) is a 300 member organization committed to the advancement of oncology nursing practice through education, communication and research. The organization is now entering its 20th year. It's mission is to promote excellence in oncology nursing and quality cancer care.

The purpose of the organization is:

• To promote quality in oncology nursing practice through education, communication and research.

• To enable oncology nurses to survive in the current changing health care environment.

• To encourage a proactive stance with respect to professional issues.

• To promote networking among oncology nurses served by PSONS.

• The 2008 ONS Institute of Learning ( IOL) will be held in Seattle 
  Renita Vance,  president, will be coordinating the 2008 IOL being held in Seattle next year. A huge thank you to Martha Purrier and Ann Doyle who have expressed a willingness to step in and help coordinate the effort. Please look for future request for volunteers in upcoming e-mails   Approximately 135 people are needed to volunteer to do a variety of tasks such as packet stuffing the day before, staffing the registration desk and being room monitors. If you are interested, please contact Martha at martha.purrier@vmmc.org.

Did you know  that PSONS Board of Directors meetings are open to all chapter members? Demystify your local chapter, meet your board members, learn how things work, offer your input! The next meeting of the Board of Directors will be held at our annual symposium.

2008-2009 Board Meetings will be at Swedish on Monday's 6-8pm In the Tesh Conference Room. All PSONS members are invited to attend and participate in discussions.  A light dinner /snack are usually provided.   The next meeting will be held during the annual PSONS symposium.  Please call 425.771.4189 to ensure date/location of meeting has not changed.
